Hergiswil (Switzerland), 5. 7. 48.

Dear Mr. Seligmann,

You may remember the little French "Pietà" because of which you visited me in London last summer. I then informed you that the Swiss owner of the picture could not make up his mind to sell it.

I just had an opportunity to visit him, and as I told him that I or my wife in the fall would go for a short time to New York, he informed me that, provided he could agree to the terms of sale, he would be prepared to send the picture to New York during my stay there.

If you are still interested in the picture be so kind as to send your reply to Hotel Bellevue, Seelisberg, Switzerland, where I am staying till the 17 July, or after this date to 33 Belsize Park, London, N. W. 3,

Yours sincerely,
J. Berstl
