Dear Sir,-

As I had the pleasure to be received by you last year, and as I know the very high standard of your collection, I wish to draw your attention to an exceptionally fine French picture we have just received, and I am sure that even if you do not contemplate buying anything for the time being, you would enjoy looking at it, as it is one of the finest examples of the period of Drouais.

It comes from the Baroness Mathilde of Rothschild, who died last year, and it is a picture she refused to sell for the last 30 years as it came from her father, who had bought it in Vienna 90 years ago.

I hope you will be able to spare a few moments to drop in some time in the near future.

Pray believe me,

Your sincerely,
