Dear Sir,

In answer to your letter of the 16th inst., we are herewith enclosing you a pamphlet illustrating and fully describing the painting by Reynolds, about which you are inquiring. The price is $125,000.00.

We would like to call your attention to the fact that this is generally considered to be one of the most important examples of Sir Joshua Reynolds from the point of view of composition, historic interest, state of preservation, and color. It was painted in 1771, which was during the artist's best period, as at that time his paintings did not fade as his earlier ones did not crack as his later ones did. This was due to the fact that he was luckier in the mixing of his pigments with which he was always experimenting in order to get the bright colors of the early Venetian school.

The painting is in our galleries here and we would be very pleased to show it to you at any time that you can conveniently call. When you are finished with the pamphlet which we are herewith sending you, we would ask you to return it to us at your convenience, as we need it for our files.
