Paris,
August the thirty-first,

My dear Mr. Blumenthal,

Remembering the interest you showed in the Dutasta Collection when last I saw you in New-York, I have been wondering, since, whether you had received a priced catalogue of this auction ? I thought that it would greatly interest you as there were certainly some very remarkable works of art of all kinds, certain ones fetching high prices.

French people were amazed at the prices, altogether. But, put in gold value, I consider the prices quite normal, with the exception, as I said above, of a few that, of course, went quite high.

However, it was a remarkable show as in a long time one has not seen anything like it. I am sure you would have greatly enjoyed it.

You will probably remember that, also when I saw you just before my departure, in New-York, you were contemplating taking an apartment in town and having a fine French room made. Have you had anything done ? As I am really looking forward upon my return to the States in October, to seeing your fine purchases in your new home. If there is anything you want me to attend to while I am still in Paris, just let me know.

Hoping that you had a pleasant summer,
Believe me to be,
Yours sincerely,

Walter Blumenthal, Esq.,
