Dear Mr. Brame:

You may remember my visit in the early part of the summer with César at which time I saw the Daumier painting of "M. Debureau".

We have just received the painting this week in good condition, but unfortunately our Paris office sent us little or no information regarding it. I remember that when we were looking at the picture together, you brought out a large volume of the David-Weill Collection in which appeared a rather lengthy page or two of description of the picture as well as a reproduction. If I also recall correctly, there was a considerable explanation of who Charles Debureau was and his relation with Daumier, etc., etc.

I apologize for troubling you about this, but I think you probably know how important these various documents and informations are to our business here in America, as people always ask questions which we are only able to answer with the fullest possible information on every picture that comes to our galleries. Therefore, would it be possible for you to have photostatic copies made of the pages in the David-Weill catalogue referring to this picture? At the same time would you be kind enough to give me the page numbers of the text and the illustration.

I should also like to have similar information regarding the Degas pastel, "Les Blanchi[[strikethrough]]e[[/strikethrough]]sseuses". The only information I have is from a ticket on the back of the picture which bears the name of Mme. Chausson and a reproduction in Lafond's book on Degas. I seem to recall that this picture has been exhibited many times in different exhibitions in Europe, of which I have no indication, and I am wondering also if there are any other collections or reproductions to add to the list.

t.s.v.p.
