Mrs. Anson W. Burchard,
690 Park Avenue,
New York, N.Y.

Dear Mrs. Burchard:

I have just returned to this country for a few weeks, and am wondering whether I could have the pleasure of calling on you while I am here. I was told that you had called with Mr. Burchard while I wassin Europe, and that you showed interest in several of our pictures.

The Hubert Robert that I had shown you, and which you liked so much, has been sold. The very beautiful picture by Reynolds is under consideration, and that is why I am taking the liberty of sending you these few lines, as in case you were really interested in this picture, I would like you to let me know, so that I might still give you the refusal of it.

I will take the liberty of 'phoning you to inquire whether it would be agreeable to you to have me call, and I should so much enjoy meeting Mr. Burchard.

Believe me to be,

Yours very sincerely,
