Mrs. Anson W. Burchard,
690 Park Avenue,
New York, N. Y.

Dear Mrs. Burchard:

I have just returned to this country for a few weeks, and am wondering whether I could have the pleasure of calling on you while I am here. I was told that you had called with Mr. Burchard while I was in Europe, and that you showed interest in several of our pictures.

^[[pencil underlined]]The Hubert Robert that I had shown you, and which you liked so much, has been sold. The very beautiful picture by Reynolds is under consideration, [[/pencil underlined]] and that is why I am taking the liberty of sending you these few lines, as in case you were really interested in this picture, I would like you to let me know, so that I might still give you the refusal of it.

I will take the liberty of 'phoning you to inquire whether it would be agreeable to you to have me call, and I should so much enjoy meeting Mr. Burchard.

Believe me to be,

Yours very sincerely,

^[[Thanks. I fear our views as to the value of the Reynolds "Venus and Cupid" are too far apart to lead to anything. I presume you noticed that a Reynolds of this same subject was sold at the Leverhulme sale,
