Rowland Burdon-Muller, Esq. -2- February 21, 1928

Mrs. Guggenheim inquired for the price of our Millefleurette tapestry with the medallion in the center. This the tapestry, I believe, that Mrs. Guggenheim has in mind for a space over her fireplace in her Port Washington house. It is Flemish workmanship of the 16th century and called "Millefleurette" on account of the flowers being so very tiny; a diminutive of the Millefleur. This kind of tapestry is very unusual and rare. It is in a perfect state of preservation, and has its original border on all four sides. The measurements with the frame are 4'9-1/2" high by 7'1-1/2" wide. The price is - $7,500.

Two marble columns, French work of the 16th century. From the collection of PIOT, of which you most likely have heard. Height 3'10-1/2", price - $1,400.

Two small wall consoles in marble which you had seen are Italian workmanship of the 16th century and attributed to Carlo Moderna, the celebrated Italian sculptor who made the beautiful staircase in Rome. Price of the two columns - $850.

We furthermore just received a very nice, decorative and extremely reasonable Majolica statuette in colors, Italian work of 16th century, atelier of the ROBBIA's, representing a standing angel. The height of it is 39". Inasmuch as the object is not too religious and so decorative with its yellow, blue, green and purple colors, I thought you might like to see it, and you may be able to place it somewhere. The price for it is $1,200.

I trust you will come in soon again so that I can show you some more of our stock, especially some fine Gothic tapestries which you have not as yet seen, and I certainly would be very glad if I could be of any service to you.

Trusting this will be satisfactory to you, I remain, in the meanwhile, with my kindest personal regards,

Yours very sincerely,

(Rolf H. Waegen)
