New York 22, N. Y.

February 3, 1961

Dear Mr. Nicholson:

How very good of you to have answered me as you did and let me thank you for your note of January 27.

Since writing, the painting by Vouet has been acquired by "La Société des Amis du Louvre", and I have also received M. Jacques Dupont's authorization to publish my article in your magazine were you to accept it.

Under separate cover, registered, I am thus sending you the double-spaced manuscript, as well as two photographs giving you a choice for the reproduction. I appreciate indeed your suggestion of "jumping the Queue" in order to get it in early.

You might further be interested to know that the painting will be included of course under the name of the "Société des Amis du Louvre" in the French 17th Century Exhibition which will open in the first days of March at the Metropolitan Museum. This is a Show which, you probably know, having started in Washington went then to Toledo.

^[[x]] I do hope you will agree with the wording of the article, though I will be only too happy to hear of any alterations you might consider necessary to improve its clarity and impact. May I add that should you wish to communicate with me I will be leaving New York on February 15th to return on March 7th.

With personal regards,
Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman

P.S.
What would you think of the following caption under the photograph.
