Dear Mr. Seligman,

I have read your article on the Desjardins with great care and have been very tempted to have it for the Burlington, but cannot help feeling that the absence of documentation (not your fault) is a point against it. The absence of any real evidence about the Washington statuette makes me feel extremely dubious. With the utmost reluctance and regret I am returning it, and hope my action will not dissuade you from submitting further material in the future.

Yours sincerely,

M.Germain Seligman.
