Dear Miss Busiel:

I wish to thank you for your welcome lines of April 7th, to which I hasten to reply.

I now find that I will not be coming to Chicago as I had hoped, and therefore, I am sending you the photographs of the Buddha in question. As you can see from the two accompanying photographs there is the very important and superb center figure, flanked by two attendents. These pieces can be had as a group, or the Buddha can be obtained separately. The following is the description that has been sent to me from Paris:-

The Buddha is dressed in yellow, which is a very rare color as he is usually dressed in green. The border of his tunic is green on a black background. The border of his sleeve and dress is green with engraved pattersn, and his belt is green. In his hand he holds a lion. He is seated on a rock which is green, beige and black.

The Buddha is of the [[underlined]] Ming Dynasty [[/underlined]], the beginning of the 13th century, and comes from the [[underlined]] Temple of Po Han Hsue [[/underlined]], from the department of [[underlined]] Hon Don Hsuen, Province of Shan Si [[/underlined]].

Height: 47" Width: 27-3/4"

Price for the Buddha alone .. $10,000.
" " " [[ditto for Price for the]] two attendants .. 7,000.

I am also sending you a further historical resume, which might prove of interest.

I am sure that you will agree with me that this is a most unique and beautiful piece, and I should like to add at this time that T'Ang Dynasty figures of this importance are of the greatest rarity, and should one be found today, it would fetch in the neighborhood of $75,000. I hope this will meet with your approval, and look forward to hearing from you in this regard.
