[[underlined]]STRENGTHEN OUR ORGANIZATION IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY[[/underlined]]

[[underlined]]OUR 850,000[[/underlined]]

In reality we care capable of reaching 850,000 women with our combined strength as an organization of organizations and interested, concerned individuals, This is a reality at the national level. We are challenged to make it so in every local community. It is at the community level that the question has been raised:

"How many of the 850,000 are active here in this community?"

We can and must meet this challenge.

[[underlined]]CHANGING PATTERNS CALL FOR NEW APPROACHES[[/underlined]]

Our way of organizing our Council work has to keep pace with the trends of our time. The mobility of population; the changing neighborhoods; and the changing patterns of women's lives; call for new thinking of our ways of organizing to reach women. In many large urban centers our national affiliates have several units - thus taking their program to the places where people are moving. In many communities the multiple units are expanding as they work together closely. A better job is done as more women have the opportunity to participate through the harmonious efforts of intimate groups whose concerted actions make a greater impact upon the community.

[[underlined]]WHAT OTHER ORGANIZATIONS ARE DOING[[/underlined]]

The League of Women Voters, the National Council of Jewish Women and many others have found that the greatest impact and greatest membership participation in
