Help a Child to Succeed in School
The added one-to-one attention a volunteer gives a child in school often spells the difference between failure and success. Both teachers and principals agree on that.

Started in 1956 with 20 recruits in one school, the New York City School Volunteer Program now serves more than 250 schools in all five boroughs. Dedicated men and women are active in Reading Help, Mathematics, Conversational English, and Classroom Assistance programs.

If you can spare six hours a week--two mornings or two afternoons--during the school year, the SVP professional staff will train you, free of charge, to become a volunteer tutor working with children in a school in your neighborhood or near your place of business.

Call or write us for details today. Your action will create a reaction in our schools...for the good of our children.

Rubbing Elbows
by Anita Summer

Ernestine Jackson chooses LES SANS-CULOTTES--1085 Second Ave....For this vivacious star of Guys and Dolls, 1 a.m. is sometimes "her time of the day." That's one reason she's so pleased to have discovered Les Sans-Culottes, an attractive new French restaurant which is totally unruffled by serving a full meal at that hour. Ernestine finds Les Sans-Culottes' traditional French cuisine--"mouth watering;" the service--"exquisite, even grand;" the check ($12.95 for prix fixe dinner)--"more than fair." And as someone who knows her way around a recipe, she's delighted that co-owners Jean Pierre Mizrachi and Jean Pierre Touchard don't keep theirs a secret.

Restaurant is open daily from 12 to 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Bar from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. Specialities--beef, lamb and fresh fish.

Barbara Barrie chooses...DAVE WOLF'S 1240 Ave. of Americas--There is something marvelously "no-nonsense" about Barbara Barrie, who is currently splitting sides in Neil Simon's California Suite. That's why, when she tells you "there's nothing phoney about Dave Wolf's," you believe her. "Behind all that New Orleans-style, turn-of-the-century decor that I'm so wild about," says the actress, "is the real thing--great service, terrific location and marvelous fresh food." (No accident, since owner Dave Wolf, nearly always on the premises, starts off each day at the market.) ...This steak and seafood house features fine examples of Am. cuisine with a Continental flair. Barbara's favorite is the whole trout stuffed with crabmeat ($9.50).

Open 7 days from 11:30 until 11:30. A la carte menu--dinner entrees from $6.50. Seats 125 on 3 levels. Two bars.
