Sunday 6th Battle opened, extending from Ermenonville (just in front of left flank of 6th army) through Lizy, Mauperthuis (English center) Courtaçon (left of 5th French Army) to Esternay and Charleville (left of 9th army under Foch) and along the front of the 9th 4th & 3d French Armies to a point north of fortress of Verdun. Battle lasted as far as British, 6th 5th & 9th French Armies were concerned till evening of 10th Sept. Germans driven back to line Soissons-Rheims.

On Sept. 3d Enemy seemed to have changed plans, main columns moved in south easterly direction

Sept 5th  Several columns crossed the Marne. Heads of columns crossed Ourcq at Changis, La Ferté, Nogent, Chateau Thierry. Germans converging on Montmirail, large numbers at Coulommiers south of Rebais, La Ferte-Gaucher & Dagny.
