Beaumont, where the bridge across the   was blown up and we had to cross on a bridge of boats.  Just beyond this the huge railroad bridge has been [[strikethrough]] fl [[/strikethrough]] blown up by the French to prevent the Germans from getting by.  We passed through Beauvais (the Germans came within a Kilometer of it) and on to Poix where we stopped to light up and had a glass of Dubonnet at a small patisserie shop on the corner.
There was already some snow in the road before reaching Beauvais, but after that the road was covered with snow and went on showing signs that more still had fallen as we worked our way north.  The last hour and a half were quite exciting as the roads were icy and it was dark.  Champoiseau thinks he is in a race all the time!  It was close to six when we drew into Abbeville (160 K. from Paris) The Tete de Boeuf had not a single room -! The Hotel de France was the same - next door There was a salon and a suspicious eyed woman looked us over.  No she had no rooms.
