Political Digest

Charles H. Wilson, candidate for the Assembly from the 66th District has taken a strong and positive stand in favor of voting privileges for 18-year-old citizens.

"Certainly if your 18 year olds can marry and have children, if they can be drafted for military service for the defense of country and if they can be required to pay their share of the burden of our community then they should have the privilege of helping to select our public officials. I would like to see 18-year-old voting privileges placed upon the ballot and then hope the voters will extend such a right to our younger citizens."

A blast at "political vampires who prey on the old folks of this state, and insult their intelligence by trying to scare them into voting for politicians who kow-tow to pension messiahs," was sounded this week by Kenneth A. Ross Jr., candidate for the 66th Assembly district.

Ross claims that the old folks of the State haven't been getting a fair shake, "because too much legislation concerning pensions has been used on selling [[??tionalism]] and too little on a [[?]] of what is really best for our senior citizens."

Democratic State Central committee members were reported up in arms this week as a result of the claim by Russell Sorenson, campaign manager for Charles L. [[?]], that [[??]] had received an endorsement from the Democratic State Central Committee and the Democratic County Central Committee in connection with his candidacy for the 65th Assembly District vacancy.

Mrs. Lottie E. Barker, prominent Southside Los Angeles realtor and member of the Democratic State Central committee from the 66th district, repudiated Sorenson's claim.
