[[wavy underlined]] Orchid Island, Panama Canal Zone [[/wavy underlined]]

9 January I did get to see Red-throated Anttanagers. They were all in pairs and had chestnut-backed antbirds with them. There are also many more Long-billed Gnatwrens. There was a ♀ Green Honeycreeper with some Dot-winged antwrens being insectivorous: walking along thin (1-2 cm dia) dead twigs in a vine tangle checking either side like a Black & White Warbler. I also saw a ♀ Woodnymph with nesting material.

11 January This morning I was a TV star. Andrea and I staged mist netting for channel 11 (an educational channel). I tried recording birds in the late morning but couldn't get the recorder to work. Reb fixed the recorder after lunch & I went back out & got some recordings on Snyder-Moline & Lutz short-cut (which Russ erased on 13 Jan)

12 January Mist-netted all day on Plateau & caught a lot of birds. I saw a Collared Forest Falcon at Wheeler 15.5 ~ 2:00 PM. There's something weird going on with ♂ Slaty-Antshrike Red/Yellow (who I resighted at Wheeler 14.5)
