13 January We were evil & slept late today. I tried going out in the afternoon to collect group composition data on the Shamon-Balboa loop. I found out that it's useless trying to study birds in the afternoon this late into the wet season. I didn't see much & got a lot of ticks. I did see a Pigmy Tyrant and white-tailed deer Yellow-backed orioles are running amok in the clearing.

14 January I did a plateau census in the morning & got so covered with ticks that I came back at 1:00. Ochre-bellied Flycatchers are back along Snyder-Molino. The winds came up this morning at around 8:30.
