[[preprinted]]THIRTEENTH AIR FORCE
APO 74, SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA[[/preprinted]]

16 May 1957

My dear Ben:

Your extremely welcome letter of May ninth came today, and I hasten to congratulate you on such a fine new assignment. There are plenty of brigadiers and major generals in the Air Force who would give their eye teeth for that job, and your getting it speaks more loudly than could any words how highly you and your achievements are regarded by the USAF.

I want to thank you for your kind thoughts about our relationship, Ben. It was always a real pleasure to deal with you, and I thought we had a mutual trust in each other which made our lives happier and more productive. Your loyalty was unimpeachable, as far as I was concerned.

Faith took an immediate shine to Aggie, and she was only repeating what I had already done. You certainly get a lot of support out of that gal.

I do hope our paths cross again before too long -- we're missing you both out here very much.

Sincerely,
