And sign language has possibilities for poetry. In the past, I had a fight with a boyfriend and he wouldn't talk to me for a few days and you know communication is very important for deaf people. And so, there was no communication for a few days, drove me crazy.

So, I wrote this poem and I played with handshapes. That one, that one, and that one.

This was called Silence, Oh Painful.

Silence, oh painful knowing he has something to say but don't know what.
And knowing I have something to say but don't know how.

Looking into his eyes a wall forms between us.
No more quiet heart exchanges.
No more eyes passing invisible words.
