Assistant to Congressman Mineta, Phyllis A. Guss. Dr. Martin Harwit, Director of the National Air & Space Museum, joined the meeting for that portion of the agenda devoted to the Museum's Extension.

[[underlined]] MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 19, 1989 [[/underlined]]

The Chancellor drew the Regents' attention to the minutes of the most recent Regents' meeting, and the following motion was approved:

VOTED that the Board of Regents approves the Minutes of the Meeting of September 19, 1989, as previously circulated on October 20, 1989.

[[underlined]] REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE [[/underlined]]

Mr. Acheson introduced the following report of the Executive Committee. He noted that the Committee had held a telephone conference on December 20 in which the unanimous recommendation emerged regarding the siting of the Extension of the National Air and Space Museum (for which see below in these proceedings).

The Executive Committee of the Board of Regents met at noon on Thursday, January 18, 1990, in the Ladies' Dining Room of the Supreme Court. Present were:
          
William H. Rehnquist, Chancellor
David C. Acheson, Chairman
Robert McC. Adams, Secretary

Also present were: Under Secretary Dean W. Anderson; Assistant Secretary for Administration John F. Jameson; Treasurer Ann R. Leven; Executive Assistant to the Secretary James M. Hobbins; and Administrative Assistant to the Chief Justice Lawrence H. Averill, Jr.

The Committee reviewed the proposed agenda for the January 29, 1990 meeting of the Board of Regents and observed that, with the amplifications below, the agenda papers reflected the Committee's views. As the meeting began Mr. Acheson introduced his January 16, 1990 letter of disclosure and asked that it be appended to this report.
