relieving development officers and other staff from performing this function, which takes time away from their primary duties.

5) One stewardship coordinator, to work closely with the development teams, the communications manager, and gift records to establish and coordinate centralized donor acknowledgement and recognition activities Institution-wide.

6) One gift records clerk, to process the increasing volume of gifts and to help assure timely recording of gifts and pledges.

7) One development assistant in Individual Giving, to provide additional secretarial services to this growing team.

8) One development clerk for the Information Unit, to assist in record-keeping and to provide support services for database management.

9) Non-personnel increases for travel and donor entertainment, printing, supplies and materials, computer equipment, and additional office space, all of which are necessary to implement the growing scope of Office of Membership and Development activities.

Specific activities for the Office of Membership and Development in fiscal year 1991 will include:

1) continuing refinement of the endowment gift opportunities booklet and the endowment handbook, along with internal and external distribution of same, as appropriate;

2) increased national cultivation activity, with major donor events to be held in six cities as well as increased individual travel by development officers for cultivation and solicitation purposes;

3) writing and production of additional development publications and presentations to support fund-raising activities, with the endowment gift opportunities booklet to be published first; 

4) data entry and staff training to convert existing donor records to the new information system and to bring the system into full operational status for use by the central and bureaux development offices, including the Museum of the American Indian;

5) preparation of development plans for ensuing fiscal years, based on Mr. Ulanov's recommendations and formal reviews of progress to date.

The campaign for the National Museum of the American Indian will be coordinated with this endowment program. The National Museum of the American Indian campaign will focus initially on securing contributions for [[underlined]] construction [[/underlined]].
