[[underlined]] Board of Trustees of the National Museum of the American Indian [[/underlined]]

At its meetings held on October 1, 1990 and December 3, 1990, the Board of Trustees of the National Museum of the American Indian recommended, respectively, the appointment of Allen V. Pinkham and Harold Dean Salway to serve on the Board through June 23, 1993, for the unexpired terms of Roger Buffalohead and Alfonso Ortiz, who have resigned. Mr. Pinkham has served as the Chairman of his tribe, the Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho, and Mr. Salway serves as the current President of the Oglala Sioux Tribe of the Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota. Both have been active on Indian cultural affairs for many years. In addition, the Bylaws of the Board of Trustees, Article III, Section 1, call for the Regents' appointment of an Assistant Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution to the Board of Trustees; Secretary Adams has designated Tom L. Freudenheim, the Assistant Secretary for Museums, for this appointment. Accordingly, the following motion is suggested:

The Board of Regents also appoints Assistant Secretary Tom L. Freudenheim as a member of the Board of Trustees.

Brief biographical data on the proposed appointees follows, as does a full list of the membership as proposed.
