APPOINTMENTS AND REAPPOINTMENTS TO SMITHSONIAN BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS

VOTED that, in accordance with Public Law 95-414, the Board of Regents reappoints to the Commission of the National Museum of African Art, effective January 1, 1992, David C. Driskell, Frances Humphrey Howard, Robin B. Martin, and Robert H. Nooter, for terms expiring December 31, 1994.

VOTED that the Board of Regents appoints D. Brainerd Holmes to the National Council of the National Museum of Natural History.

VOTED that the Board of Regents, in accordance with Public Law 101-185, appoints to the Board of Trustees of the National Museum of American Indian Ann Rockefeller Roberts and Keith H. Basso for terms consonant with the provisions of the Trustees' Bylaws.

VOTED that the Board of Regents reappoints to the Commission of the National Museum of American Art Ronald D. Abramson, Wendell K. Castle, Barney A. Ebsworth, Patricia Frost, and Melvin Lenkin, and the Board of Regents appoints to the Commission David S. Purvis and Linda Lichtenberg Kaplan, for terms determined by the Commission.

PRESENTATION OF THE LANGLEY MEDAL TO BENJAMIN O. DAVIS, JR.

VOTED that the Board of Regents presents to Lt. General Benjamin O. Davis, Jr., the Samuel Pierpont Langley Medal in recognition of his outstanding contributions to and advancement of aviation.

PROPOSAL TO NAME THE ZOO'S PHOTO LAB FOR BARBARA WATKINS McELHINNY

VOTED that the Board of Regents designates the photo lab at the National Zoo as the Barbara Watkins McElhinny Lab in grateful recognition of her contributions to the Zoo and to the art of photography.

FINANCIAL REPORT

Operating funds received by the Institution in fiscal year 1991 from all sources (net of expenses related to auxiliary activities) totalled $370,447,000. This is $7,726,000 higher than the projection reported in September, due to a change in Treasury reporting procedures, unobligated one-year funding, unobligated no-year funding, and an unfunded judgement against the Museum Support Center. The General Unrestricted Trust Fund balance increased by $3,000. As previously reported, the Institution took various actions during the fiscal year to avoid incurring a deficit.
