Gentlemen: - This is to certify that Mr. Fred J. Wiseman, the Aviator, gave us a very satisfactory and remarkable exhibition of flying from the new tideland fill of this city on Saturday last. The sentiment in Olympia is unanimous that Mr. Wiseman showed himself not only exceedingly plucky as an aviator but an absolutely square man, for [[strikethrough]] despite [/strikethrough]] ^[[because of]] unfortunate conditions that could not be foreseen the meet had to be held on a space open to the view of all instead of in an enclosed driving park as originally planned, and Mr. Wiseman did not realize a sufficient sum from the gate receipts to pay his expenses. In spite of this and a hot flange on his propeller, so hot that it blistered the varnish, he gave us three magnificent flights any one of which would have been sufficient to satisfy every man, woman and child who paid admission to the grounds. We would appreciate it very much if you would display this letter on your bulletin board. Yours very truly, [[signed]] F.T. Watson [/signed]] Secretary
