Teenage Set Hold Parties

Until graduation week in June members of the teen-age set will take turns in giving farewell parties for their senior classmates in the Eastbay.

The first of a succession of parties for the week was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John P. French at Orinda, with Miss Joan Hamilton as hostess to several score of the girls at tea and a garden party last Sunday afternoon. Joan is a senior at Piedmont High School.

Clever little bids for a barbecue were received from a group of seniors – Joan Raymer, Bea Sweet, Carol Truman, Marie Bertillion, Jeanne Smith and Beverly Larson. The party will be held next Saturday at the Clarence Larson home on Annerly Road.

The bids read "Bev, Joan and Bea, Carol Jean and Marie invite you to eat a barbeque treat. So gather with gusto and glee, May 22 the date, from 5 until an hour before 8."

Next Sunday, seven graduating seniors will combine duties as hostesses at a formal tea at the Paul St. Sure home on Hampton Road. These will be Virginia "Ginger" Chubb, Marie DeBonis, Joyce Gabelman, Mary Jane Gallagher, Barbara Healy, Linda Laws, Margaret Mason and Beth St. Sure.

Something different in the way of parties is the garden-coke afternoon which Pat O'Harro will have Monday, May 31, from 3 to 5 o'clock at her home on Lakeshore.

Orinda Country Club was the setting for a May 8 gathering for the senior girls. Hostesses on that date were Geraldine Berger, Betty Campbell, Nancy Day, Marilyn Gutierrez, Marilyn Kindig, June Odell, Sarah Stribling and Martha Theobald.

A week from Saturday, May 29, Marie Bertillion, Jeanne Smith, Mary Nielson and Carol Truman will join forces as hostesses at tea.

A coke party is in the cards for the graduates on Memorial day at the home of Miss Marilyn Morse. Co-hostesses with her will be Barbara Clayton and Carolyn Moore.

"A swim followed by a barbecue," read the invitations received from Carol Keeler, Carol Price, Joan Foley and Joan Hedemark, who will entertain June 5, at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Nelson Keeler in Piedmont.
