Explanation of Aerial Ship.

Plan. The plan is shown in drawing 1. It consists of two cylindrical bags "A" pointed at each end, and of very light material. Each is 30 inches long (24 measuring from the from the point of one to the butt of the other) and 6 inches in diameter, each containing 476.5756 cubic inches. To the under surface of each cylinder fastened by means of a network of cords, or otherwise, so as to distribute the weight equally over the cylinders, is a long piece of wood "b" 18 inches long.  Connecting the ends of these two pieces are two more "c".  These form the principle frame work and should be suitably braced.  In the middle is a skeleton platform on which rests the engine and boiler.  These will be described with drawings 2 and 3.  The two cylinders, containing 953.1512 cubic in., if filled with coal gas should be able to raise about 1/28 pounds.  If filled with hydrogen, about 1/5 pounds.

End elevation  Drawing 2 is the end elevation.  The same letters represent the same parts.  The cylinder d is 5/8 bore and 1 3/8 inside length.  The piston e is 1 1/4 in. stroke.  The guides f are 1 3/4 in length.  The crank g is 1 1/4 stroke.  The shaft h is set in the block i.  The boiler j is cylindrical and is 3 3/4 long and 2 1/2 in diameter.  The water is
