(When five miles west of Baning, Rodgers noticed his motor was not working right and came down. On arrival of our train, mechanicians made examination and found broken gas connection. " [[ditto for Nov.]] 5 Baning, Cal. 1:02 P.M. Pomona, Cal 2:07 P.M.

(He landed at Pomona for instructions from the people at Pasadena who had made arrangements for his landing at a certain hour. His motor was also examined at Pomona and some few minor repairs were made.)

Pomona, Cal. 3:25 P.M. Pasadena, Cal. 4:04 P.M.

(He had more or less motor trouble after leaving Imperial Junction. At Pasadena he was given the biggest reception of any place on the route. It was almost impossible to keep the crowd back so he would have a landing place. Rodgers is considered by the people of California as one of the greatest men of the country and they claim he was given a bigger reception than the President of the United States was given there a few months before.

^[[x]] In attempting to finish his flight Sunday, Nov. 5th from Pasadena to Long Beach, making it a coast to coast flight, one of the guide wires broke about five miles from Pasadena, letting him drop 125 to the ground, completely wrecking his aeroplane and receiving severe injuries.

We are now advised that he will again attempt to complete his flight November 19th.)
