The Cowen Team Is Running Wild Against Others

WEBSTER SPRINGS, Nov. 9—Little Cowen high school, often humbled in years past by the Webster Springs Wildcats, turned the tables today and ran up a 72-0 score.

Cowen's 130-pound freshman, Morton, fleet as a jack rabbit and slick as a fish, took four long runs into touchdown territory after entering the game as a sub. His playing was a sensation. Bean, Miller and Brown, his team mates, added seven other touchdowns. Cowen used about three teams.

Couch Davis Calls Meeting of Sutton High 'Blue Devils' for 25th of August

Howard Davis, who was selected as director of athletics at Sutton high school this year, has issued a call for all boys who expect to participate in football this season to meet with him at the high school gymnasium Tuesday, August 25th, for a general introductory session preparatory to the opening of practice drills which will begin immediately thereafter.

Davis, who will attend Cam Henderson's coaching school at Marshall college next week, will return with the latest "dope" and ready for a hard grind. He says he wants to go to work as soon as possible, realizing his great responsibility, and the 25th day of August is the date set by the state board of athletics for the opening season.

In taking over the reigns Davis will be tackling one of the hardest tasks ever confronted by a high school coach in trying to mould a winning team out of the material available from last year's team and that expected to report this season. Very few of the 1935 "Blue Devils" squad have seen any real service, and the boys are all comparatively small to what football timber should be.

But Davis is showing real determination and with the support of all concerned he expects to put out a winning combination. He says cooperation is the greatest factor in building a strong combine, and if he can get support of both townspeople and the school he will never flinch from his chosen task.
