In the name of God, Amen. I, James Roberts, of Barnwell District in the State of South Carolina, Farmer, being in my perfect senses and sound mind and memory, blessed be God, but calling to mind the mortality of my body and that it is appointed for all men once to die, to make, ordain, publish and confirm this, my last will and testament, in manner and form following; viz:

I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, Who gave it and my body to the earth from which it came, in hopes of a joyful resurrection and through the merits of my Savior, Jesus Christ; and as to the wordly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me, I dispose thereof in the manner and form following: 

First, my will is that all my just debts be paid and that my well beloved wife, Amy Roberts, be fully possessed of all of my Estate Real and Personal during her natural life; and 

Secondly, I give and bequeath to my daughter, Dorcas Curlee, [[insertion]] *** [[/insertion]] one Shilling Sterling.

Third, I give and bequeath to Roger Roberts one Shilling Sterling.

Fourth, I give and bequeath to the heirs of my son, James Roberts, deceased, one Shilling Sterling.

Fifth, I give and bequeath to the heirs of my daughter, Elizabeth Stansit, one Shilling Sterling.

Sixth, I give and bequeath to Mary Paremore one negro girl named Pleasant.

Seventh, I give and bequeath to Roland Roberts Forth Dollars, to be paid by my son Irwin Roberts.

Eighth, I give and bequeath to my daughter, Winney Barfield, one Shilling Sterling.
