HEADQUARTERS UNITED STATES MILITARY ACADEMY WEST POINT, NEW YORK October 13, 1904 Mr. T. DeW. Milling, Franklin, Louisiana. My dear Mr. Millings: The blank certificate which I sent you is to be filled out immediately after you graduate from the Saint Mary’s High School next May. The certificate that you have submitted so far only shows that you will graduate, and in order for you to be admitted to the Academy you must actually complete your work at the high school and graduate. The provisional acceptance of your certificate, final acceptance being contingent upon your graduation, excuses you, however, from taking the mental entrance examination, but as stated in my previous letter “should you for any reason fail to graduate from this school your certificate could not be accepted and you could not, therefore, enter the Academy as the entrance examinations, which begin May 1st, will have been completed.” Very respectfully, [[signature]] F. W. Coe [[/signature]] Captain, Artillery Corps, Adjutant.
