ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP

Section 1.  The Air Force Historical Foundation shall be composed of ex officio and active members.

Section 2.  Ex officio membership in the Air Force Historical Foundation shall be conferred during the period in which they may hold office upon the President of the United States, the civilian head of the defense establishment and his principal assistant, the civilian head of the United States Air Force and his principal assistant, the Military Head of the United States Air Force, all living former military heads of the United States Air Force and its predecessor organizations, and the military head of the United States Air Force Academy.  In addition thereto, ex officio membership shall be conferred upon the officer still living who has held a military pilot rating for the greatest number of years, and during their respective terms of office, the wing commander of the Order of Daedalians, the president of the Air Force Association, and the president of the Early Birds.  Other ex officio memberships may be conferred by the Board of Trustees as provided in the bylaws.

Section 3.  Active membership in the Air Force Historical Foundation shall be open to all persons in accordance with rules established in the bylaws.  Such members shall be further designated as "charter members" if their accepted applications are dated prior to 1 June 1954, and their names shall be suitably marked on any roll of members subsequently published.

ARTICLE IV.  GOVERNMENT

Section 1.  The government of the Air Force Historical Foundation shall be
