Chapter 1. PURPOSE

Section 1.  The Air Force Historical Foundation is dedicated to the preservation and perpetuation of the history and traditions of the United States Air Force, and its predecessor organizations, and of the men whose lives have been devoted to the Service.  These bylaws shall govern the Board of Trustees and the officers of the Air Force Historical Foundation in the conduct of its affairs under the provisions of the Constitution.

Chapter II.  MEMBERSHIP

Section 1.  The membership of the Foundation shall be composed of ex officio and active members as provided in the Constitution.

Section 2.  Ex officio membership may be conferred upon the head of an appropriate organization by majority vote of the members of the Board of Trustees.

Section 3.  Application for active membership may be made by any person.  Such application shall be made to the Secretary and approved by the membership committee under rules established by the Board of Trustees.

Section 4.  Active members shall be classified as benefactor life, patron life, contributing, and annual members, and upon compliance with Section 3 above shall be enrolled by the Secretary.  A member failing to meet the requirements of membership, and after appropriate notice has been sent, shall cease to be a member.

Section 5.  An individual or an organization making an initial contribution or cumulative contributions over a five-year period in money or property other than collection objects, to be used for operating expenses, for investment as endowments, or for special projects, aggregating five thousand dollars or more, shall be classified as a benefactor, and an individual so contributing shall be
