not given over entirely to the manufacture of aircraft. It builds military automobiles and motor trucks as well. There is an excellent plant for the construction of airplane engines which employs three hundred and fifty men. The output is now six complete Salmson 2A2, 300 j.p. engines per month, which can be greatly increased.

(3) The military arsenal of Tokyo, whose normal function is the production of artillery material, has a small airplane factory. The arsenal itself was practically destroyed in the earthquake of last September but the airplane factory escaped serious damage. Up to last September it constructed from two to three Nieuport school machines per month. The program for the coming year is not known.

(4) The military arsenal of Kiki and Nagoya has heretofore specialized in the manufacture of the Salmson 9z, 230 h.p. engine. It employs five hundred men, has made three hundred and fifty engines, and has an output of twelve engines per month which can be largely increased.
