On November 11, 1918, there were 45 American Squadrons and 23 American Balloon Companies fighting or in reserve over a section of the Western Front longer than that held by the British Expeditionary Forces, and more squadrons were being equipped and prepared to increase our force on this front.  In the First and Second Armies Combined there were 1356 pilots, 829 oservers, 40 bombardiers and a total balloon flying personnel of 572.

With the First Army there were the following American Squadrons; 8 Corps Observation Squadrons using Salmonson and D.H.4 observation airplanes; 4 Army Observation Squadrons using Breguet and Salmson airplanes; 13 Pursuit Squadrons using Spad XIII and Sopwith Camels Airplanes; and 5 (circled above the number 4) Day Bombing Squadrons using D.H.4 bombin and Breguet airplanes.

The Second Army had ^(changed to ?) 7 Pursuit Squadrons using Spad and S.E.5 airplanes; 2 Army Observation Squadrons using D.H.4 observation airplanes; 4 Corps Observation Squadrons using D.H.4 observation airplanes and 2 Day Bombing Squadrons using D.H.4 Bombing airplanes.  There were also 23 Balloon Companies, equipped with American built (Goodyear) balloons.
