The First Pursuit Group, consisting of the 94th, 27th, 147th and 95th Squadrons, established its 'drome at Ormeaux on June 28th, as a part of the Army Air Service of the 6th French Army, and under the control of the 1st American Air Brigade, with headquarters at Haute Feuille. 
On June 29th and 30th a few preliminary patrols were made. In the Vaux attack the 17th French Pursuit Group also operated with the 6th Army, and when the infantry went forward in the evening they found themselves perfectly covered by allied airplanes in step formation - the infantry liaison planes of 2500, 3500 and 4500 meters with the top of the ladder leaning into the German lines by 12 or more kilometers.

On July 6th, the Group moved to Saints.

Balloons. The 2nd Balloon Company started work at ___________ with the 1st Division, 1st Corps and the Corps Artillery the first of July, and remained until the Corps was relieved. This was the first American Balloon Company at Chateau-Thierry, and did valuable work for both the corps and divisional artillery.
