St. Louis, Mo.—Noted Christian and civic leader, Mrs. Bolden, was recipient of the 1970 St. Louis Mother of the Year Award, at the Chick Finney Associates 12th Annual Award Presentation . . . Mrs. Bolden, mother of five children and eight grandchildren, wife of the Rev. Varney Bolden, was once a licensed evangelist. Her interest and contribution toward worthy causes has been remarkable. Once she took three elderly citizens into her home and cared for them until death as she would any member of the family.
  
Mrs. Bolden, has been a member of the Kennerly Temple Church of God In Christ, for more than 25 years. She has served as choir director, member of the Public Relations committee; Pastor's aid group, Y.P.W.W.; Minister Wives Council and Youth Advisor.
  
The celebrated Mother of 1970, past president of the International Council of Ministers' Wives of the Metropolitan Greater St. Louis Area, Mrs. Bolden served on the Board of Legal Advisory Evaluation Committee of Title I. Program. She also worked with the Head Start Program.
  
The Chick Finney Associates has outlined a series of public appearances in and out of the St. Louis area for the 1970 Mother of the Year. Mrs. Bolden, attended the National Newspaper Publishers Association Annual Convention, which was held in Chicago, Ill. June 17-19. The NNPA is comprised of 200 black publishers nation-wide. The president John Sengstacks, publisher and editor of the Chicago Daily Defender and Songstacks publication, will be the host of this historical meeting.
