MRS. NAOMI GRAY

The first family planning service in the country owned and directed by black Americans has been formed in New York. Mrs. Naomi Thomas Gray, one of the country's foremost experts in the field, has organized NAOMI GRAY ASSOCIATES, INC., a professional consulting service that will specialize in family planning programs for low-income blacks and other minority groups.

NGA, INC. will act as consultants to government and private agencies, industry, universities, foundations, community groups, and other organizations concerned with family planning and birth control. It will offer a variety of services to existing programs and will help develop and implement new projects. In addition, the firm will conduct training seminars and workshops, help develop leadership ability at the neighborhood level, and create special educational materials for low-income minority groups of all ages.

NAOMI GRAY ASSOCIATES, INC. has its national headquarters at 111West 57th Street, New York, a branch office in San Francisco, and consultants throughout the country. Among the members of the Board of Directors are John L.S. Holloman, M.D., former President of the predominantly black National Medical Association; Mrs. Charles F. Whitten of Detroit, active for many years in social and health programs serving the poor; Effie O. Ellis, M.D., Special Assistant for Health services of the American Medical Association; James R. Dumpson, Dean of the Fordham University School of Social Service; Carlton B. Goodlett, M.D., Publisher of the San Francisco Sun-Reporter; William H. Robinson, Director of the Dept. of Registration and Education of the State of Illinois; Harold Oram, the well-known public relations and fundraising specialist; Mrs. Albert W. Gatov, Treasurer of the United States in 1961-62; and Mrs. Aileen C. Hernandez, National President of NOW (National Organization of Women) and former Commissioner, U.S. Equal Opportunity Commission.

CHICK FINNEY PROFILE:
As president and general manager of a black-owned advertising and public relations firm in the Metropolitan St. Louis area, Chick Finney has been lauded for his faithful volunteer service in civic, religious, social and community affairs.

The veteran newsman is a versatile advertising salesman, staff member of the St. Louis Argus and founder of the Chick Finney Associates, Inc. in 1966. The project was first started as a sideline, but now it has become and enterprise with a brighter future. 

Crowning St. Louis 1970 Mother of the Year in the person of Mrs. Theresa Bolden, is another Chick Finney Associates Annual Event. She is a housewife, dedicated Christian, civic leader, mother of five children and eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Bolden, heads many civic organizations including the Parent Teacher Association. She has been cited many times for her extraordinary contributions toward the growth and betterment of the community.

Finney, a native of St. Louis received his knowledge and experience in the field of journalism through many areas. An extension course from the Missouri University; advance training via seminars, conventions and other communication across the country.

Discovering and developing newcomers toward stardom is one of his many hobbies, which has brought him national recognition. Ron Townsend of the 5th Dimension, is a famous graduate of the Chick Finney To-Morrow's Stars.

"It's Best To Play It Cool" and "I Want A Man Like That" are only two of Chick's compositions that have been recorded by his To-Morrow's Stars in the persons of Loyce Picken Houston and James (Jimmy) Atkins.

Chick' has received many awards for his community service via public relations and free entertainment toward worthy causes.

Highlight in promising clients and giving satisfactory service to all, is Finney's creed. "Put Your Best Foot Forward, at All Time" is another CFA slogan.

The American Association of Minority Consultants, National Association of Market Developers; American Federation and International Newspaper Promotion are only a few of the large number of advertising, public relations and marketing organization-nation-wide, Finney, holds membership with. 

Music performance and photography head the list of his many other hobbies.
