Mr. Lockett joined Seagram Distillers Company in 1959 as a sales representative in Southern California. Subsequently he served on the company's Western division staff as field assistant to the division manager, prior to being advanced, in 1967, to the company's national staff in New York.

Mr. Lockett, who attended Los Angeles State College, is married to the former Joan Ray of Los Angeles. He has two sons, Gregory, a student at Compton Junior College and another son, Steven II, in the automotive repair business in Los Angeles.
