CANDACE CARUTHERS

Candace Caruthers is the Director of Community Relations for WABC-TV. As Director, she coordinates the station's license renewal procedures, acts as a community liaison and speaks to groups about WABC-TV programs and careers in broadcasting.

Ms. Caruthers began her career in television in 1969 as a reporter and producer for KAKE-TV in Wichita, Kansas. Three years later she became a commercial copywriter for WHUR-FM in Washington, D.C. After graduating from Howard University with a BFA degree in Drama/Radio & TV, she came to New York City and worked for WNEW-TV as a production assistant and writer. Since then she has worked as a research/writer for ABC Network and as an associate producer and field producer for WNET-TV. Since becoming Director of Community Relations at WABC-TV, Ms. Caruthers has produced a five part series on the "History of Black Americans in the Church" for channel 7.

She is active in Corporate Women's Network and Ameriran Women in Radio & Television. Candace Caruthers is a native of Kansas City, Kansas and now resides in Manhattan with her husband, Roy Morrow.
