ELEANOR S. APPLEWHAITE is Attorney General of the Broadcast Group Section of the CBS Law Department. A native of New York and a graduate of Cornell University and Columbia Law School, she joined the CBE Law Department in 1964 after serving as law clerk to U.S District Judge Frederick vanPelt Bryan. She has been a General Attorney since 1974, and had served for four years previously as Assistant General Attorney, Governmental Affairs, on the CBS law staff.

Ms. Applewaithe is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the Federal Communications Bar Association. She is a Vice President of the International Radio and Television Society, Vice Chairman of the Board of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and a member of the Board of the N..A.C.P. Legal Defense and Educational Fund.
