[[caption]]THE 33rd ANNUAL GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER AWARD WAS PRESENTED TO DR. CARLTON GOODLETT at Pittsburgh's Carver luncheon recently. Mrs. Artegious Moncrieff, standing at right, made the presentation on behalf of National Achievement Clubs, Inc., the group founded by the late Dr. Alma Illery (pictured in background) and now headed by Mrs. Moncrieff. Dr. Goodlett, president of the National Newspaper Publishers Association, seated left, was the main speaker at the annual event which brought over 700 persons to Pittsburgh's Webster Hall Hotel as a benefit for Camp Achievement, an interracial facility for underprivileged children near Connellsville, Pa. NAC, Inc. plans the national celebration of Carver Week. Last year's chairman was Roy Kohler, Manager-Special Projects, Gulf Oil Corp., standing left. Next year's head will be Mrs. Jayne Spain, Senior Vice President of Gulf, seated right. Dr. Goodlett, making his first talk during the Sesquicentennial year of the Black Press, revealed the black media would be getting its first wire service before year's end.[[/caption]]
