Help Us Roast Herb Wright...
on Monday, May 22, 1978 at
the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel,"

read the invitation to the glittering, jam-packed affair sponsored by Philip Morris Incorporated for one of its employees, Herbert H. Wright. The company Herb has been with for 33 years organized the gala for 250 guests at the suggestion of new Philip Morris Chairman, George Weissman. Among those who nibbled on crabmeat tartelettes and steak tartare and then later dined on lobster bisque, filet of beef, hearts of palm and baked alaska with cherries jubilee, were most of the top executives from Philip Morris and its subsidiary, the Miller Brewing Company.

One speaker after another roasted (and of course, toasted) Herb, including Toastmaster Malvin Goode, George Weissman, Ross Millhiser (PM Vice Chairman), Jim Bowling (PM Senior Vice President, Miller Brewing Company), Ersa Poston, Dr. Aaron O. Wells, S. Henry Bundles, Robin Owens, George Powell (PM USA) and Mrs. Margaret B. Young, PM Board of Directors. Joseph F. Cullman 3rd, Philip Morris' Chairman of the Executive Committee, presented Herb with a custom-made matched set of golf clubs, capping off a magnificent evening in honor of a very special person, Herb Wright!
