ALCESTIS McCULLOUGH COLEMAN

Elected President of the Woman's Home and Overseas Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. At its Centennial Celebration in Miami Beach, Florida in August 1979 Mrs. Coleman was elected the 13th President of the Woman's Home and Overseas Missionary Society of the A.M.E Zion Church. She is one of the highest ranking women in this great church. Mrs. Coleman will head the women's organization for the next fourt years.

The adventure of Mrs. Alcestis McCullough Coleman in the stream of life began in Chester, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Rev. J. S. and Mrs. Mozelle McCullough. She honors their disciplined training, and deep religious faith which have been her guiding stars.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina and a Master of Arts degree from New York City. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

She has touched the lives of many young people as a public school teacher. As Dean of Women at Livingstone College, the Women's Student Government was organized, and programs projected which enriched the social, cultural and religious life of the college. Her ecumenical outreach has included membership on the National Board of Managers of Church Women United, the Board of Managers of North Carolina Church Women United, the Board of Managers of North Carolina United.
