CARATS, Inc.
July 11-13 - Columbus, Ohio

Columbus, Ohio, a city targeted by the KKK for major anti-busing demonstrations, but where bi-racial leadership prevailed and schools integrated last September without incident, will be the host city to the fifth anniversary conclave of Carats, Inc., July 11-12-13, 1980.

Carats, Inc. chartered during a resort weekend at Boca Raton, Florida in 1975, is an organization of women with chapters in eight U.S. cities, Atlanta, Ga.; Baltimore, Md.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; Cleveland, O.; Columbus, O.; Detroit, Mich., and Macon, Ga.

Each chapter is actively involved in a variety of social, educational and civic projects at the local level.

Annually the host chapter for Carats, Inc. conclave selects a home city community project or person to be the recipient of the Annual Carat Community Award. Gifts have been made to the Arena Players of Baltimore, the Muscular Dystrophy Fund in Atlanta, scholarships to Detroit students attending Wilberforce University, and the Dance Theatre of Harlem.
