He is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and currently resides in Wilmington, Delaware with his wife Randilyn and two children, Alexis and Leslie.

Roy Hobbs Jr. has joined the Greater Houston Convention & Visitors Council as a Sales Manager for the Convention Sales and Services Department, according to an announcement by Leonard E. Rolston, Council President.

Hobbs comes to the Council from Gaylord Broadcasting Company where he was a news anchorman for KHTV-TV Channel 39 and from KTRH radio (740 AM) where he was a host for an afternoon interview talkshow. Both stations are located in Houston.

His nine years of experience in broadcasting includes seven years in radio where he was news anchorman for KTRH and KAUM in Houston, and WOKY and WRIT in Wisconsin; and news director for KMJQ in Houston, and WNOV and WIFC in Wisconsin. He worked as a news reporter and anchorman for KHTV-TV Channel 39 and was a news reporter, and floor and program director for WSAU-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Hobbs has extensive talkshow experience including his afternoon talkshow, "Perspective", at KTRH radio in Houston where he interviewed prominent news-makers in the local area, and at WOKY radio in Wisconsin.

In addition to his broadcasting experience, Hobbs worked for the State of Wisconsin's Department of Industry, Labor and Human Relations as an equal rights investigator.

Hobbs attended the University of Wisconsin, where he studied journalism and business.

He is on the Advisory Committee for the Houston Independent School District for the Mass Communication Magnet School and is a member of the NAACP.
