NEW YORK URBAN LEAGUE

FIFTEENTH ANNUAL Frederick Douglass AWARDS DINNER

Thursday, May 1, 1980 • Imperial Ballroom • Sheraton Centre • New York City

TOWARD EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

Frederick Douglass (1817 - 1895), father of the Protest Movement, has been chosen by The New York Urban League as the symbol of its Award Dinners. Born a slave, he escaped to freedom and became a fiery abolitionist, editor, orator, statesman and prophet. His famous words "I know of no rights of race superior to those of humanity" are engraved on our awards tonight and set the keynote for all our programs that benefit not only those denied equal opportunity, but all the people.

The Frederick Douglass Awards Dinner set for May 7, 1981.
