[[image - 'PRIDE POWER PROFESSIONALISM' logo]] NYABE II New York Association of Black Educators JAMES BOFFMAN "Our Mr. Chips" Honored by at Fifth Annual Luncheon "ONE OF OUR OWN" James Boffman is a public school graduate who became bilingual as a result of his New York City Public School Education. His bilingual ability as evidenced by his being the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship brought honor not only to himself but to the school system which provided the basis for such achievement. EXECUTIVE ABILITY He knows how to get things done. He conceived the idea of a Leadership Weekend for a group of 40 foreign language pupils. He organized and ran it with the aid of several of his colleagues. All who participated in this venture spoke highly of it. (There was no monetary compensation involved in this project.) Mr. Boffman has had administrative and educational experience on all levels which gives him a comprehensive overview of the scope and sequence in the discipline. Furthermore, his strong sense of the history of neighborhoods and patterns of residents movements in Manhattan allowed him to generate realistic zoning plans for high schools under his supervision. RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER PEOPLE Younger teachers often turn to him for guidence. Teachers and pupils speak of him in warm superlatives. Old graduates always seek him out.
