THE GUIDING
FORCE BEHIND
AN ALL-STAR
EFFORT

Thomas B. Shropshire
Senior Vice President and Treasurer
Miller Brewing Company Sponsor

In the 36 years since it was founded, the United Negro College Fund has helped thousands of people receive the education they need to move into the mainstream of this nation's economy. Without the UNCF schools, many of these bright, talented people would not have been able to sharpen their skills and minds.
We at Miller admire the work that the UNCF member schools have been doing and are doing, and that is why we have participated in many of the activities aimed at raising funds to support these schools. The UNCF/Arthur Ashe Tennis tournament is one of those activities.
On behalf of the Miller Brewing Company, I want to welcome you and thank you for helping us help the UNCF maintain the supply of trained minds. Your attendance here will not only help insure the future of the young people who will attend UNCF colleges, but also the future of this country, whose quality of life depends on the quality of people our colleges produce.

W. Thomas York
Chairman and CEO
AMF Incorporated
Founding Sponsor

On behalf of AMF, I extend a warm welcome and sincere thank you for supporting this Sixth Annual United Negro College Fund/Arthur Ashe Tennis Benefit. AMF is proud of its distinction as the founding sponsor of the Benefit, and we again feel privileged to play a major role in helping make possible this purposeful afternoon of tennis and fund raining.
It is most gratifying to join with tennis professionals and celebrity players for this vital cause: the higher education of black youth. And every year the message becomes stronger as new players, celebrities and volunteers join us to help boost the Benefit and champion the cause of the UNCF, thereby helping the College Fund achieve its noble goals.
Certainly your presence here-and AMF's-helps make it possible for young black people to receive the education necessary for an equal opportunity at positions of importance and relevance in society. To offer them the chance to partake in the rich rewards of life that this country offers is our mutual desire. This Benefit has brought us another step closer to that goal and I thank you for joining us today.

Philip Morris U.S.A.

Philip Morris U.S.A. is delighted to participate in the 6th Annual UNCF/Arthur Ashe Tennis Benefit.
The monies raised through this event will enable many young black students to continue their education. These bright, deserving young people would not have that opportunity without the funds provided by the UNCF.
The business community is acutely aware of the fact that more than half the nation's black executives and elected officials are graduates of predominately black colleges. For that reason, I am representing Philip Morris by serving as a General Chairman of the Greater New York Campaign.
Thank you for making this event possible. We hope you continue to support the United Negro College Fund, its success represents success for all of us.
