Black Broadway

Gregory Hines, the tap-dancing toast of Broadway for his glittering performance in the current musical smash "Sophisticated Ladies" took his dancing shoes to the West Coast to open the L.A. company of the Duke Ellington Show, January 27 at the Shubert Theatre in Century City.
Maurice Hines, a Broadway star with equally dazzling footwork, took over the helm of the Broadway company from his brother on January 5 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where "Sophisticated Ladies" is about to enter its second standing-room-only year.
